Who controls the server?
Quorum uses a separately licensed private server for identity, authorization, messages, files, AI observation, action policy, execution, and durable history.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF SLACK REPLACEMENT
Quorum keeps the human shape of team chat—rooms, direct conversations, search, files, and live updates—then makes AI a governed participant inside it. Plans are visible. Sensitive actions wait. External results return with receipts.
Clear boundary: Quorum is not a drop-in Slack clone and the current alpha does not advertise voice calls, video meetings, or screen sharing. It is built for private, text-first collaboration and governed work execution.
WHY SWITCH?
If your replacement search begins and ends with channels, emoji, and integrations, Quorum will look unusual. That is intentional. Its central question is not only “where should the team talk?” but “how can an AI safely turn that conversation into real work?”
In Quorum, an important Zoho Mail message can be summarized into its owner’s AI conversation. The owner can ask for a reply, a meeting, and a reminder in one request. Quorum turns that request into an inspectable dependency graph, resolves safe prerequisites, pauses sensitive steps on their exact payloads, and brings confirmed external results back to the thread.
The result is a collaboration system where the request, plan, authorization decision, execution outcome, and future automation remain connected. That is the reason to evaluate Quorum as a Slack replacement—not because it imitates every surface, but because it changes what the surface can safely do.
THE REPLACEMENT TEST
Quorum uses a separately licensed private server for identity, authorization, messages, files, AI observation, action policy, execution, and durable history.
Quorum can execute authorized Zoho mail, calendar, task, note, and contact operations. The action boundary is explicit per tool.
Approval is attached to the resolved action payload. Recipient, content, time, and other important parameters are visible before a sensitive operation runs.
Owners can set tools to disabled, approval-bound, or automatic, then apply recipient, domain, bulk, and automatic-count limits.
Terminal results, approval history, actor identity, and external provider references come back to the conversation as an exact action receipt.
Reminders and action chains become durable automations with retries, history, enable/disable, Run now, and visible next-run status.
FAMILIAR SURFACE, DIFFERENT CENTER
The desktop alpha is focused. These are implemented product capabilities, not a roadmap disguised as a comparison table.
| Evaluation area | Quorum today | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Team conversation | Private rooms, direct conversations, live delivery, and message search | Teams retain familiar text-first collaboration patterns. |
| AI participation | AI observes eligible conversations and participates in rooms or a private owner conversation | Context and action stay where the decision was made. |
| Workplace tools | Zoho Mail, Calendar, Tasks, Notes, and Contacts | Conversation can resolve into real office work. |
| Governance | Per-tool authority, dependency graphs, approval gates, and recipient/domain/count limits | Automation has a visible, enforceable boundary. |
| Files | Membership-governed upload and authenticated download | File access follows room and conversation access. |
| Identity | Keycloak SSO through OpenID Connect with PKCE | Passwords do not enter the desktop client. |
| Desktop clients | Windows x64 and Linux x64 alpha downloads | The client is separate from the licensed server. |
THE KILLER WORKFLOW
Important mail arrives. Quorum summarizes it into the owner’s AI conversation with source context.
The owner asks once. Find Wass’s address, send a response, schedule a review, and create a reminder.
The graph appears. Dependencies and resolved parameters are inspectable before execution.
Authority draws the line. Safe reads run; sensitive sends and calendar writes request approval.
Evidence returns. Exact outcomes and provider references land in the conversation.
The reminder persists. It becomes a visible automation with next-run status and history.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS
The desktop alpha can be downloaded publicly, but it is only the client. A Quorum server is licensed and provided separately. Contact HiperFusion for deployment and commercial terms.
Quorum is designed around a private, separately provided server deployment. It is not an open-source server download. Deployment scope and operation are arranged with HiperFusion.
No. The current product should be evaluated for text-first collaboration, governed files, AI action, and durable automation—not as a voice, video, or screen-sharing replacement.
No. The Windows and Linux downloads contain only the client. Authentication, policy, AI, tools, files, and history live on an authorized server.
A REPLACEMENT SHOULD CHANGE THE OUTCOME.
